"There is more positive news for another Nigerian and that is Henry Onyekuru who is a 20 year old who scored 25 goals and got 14 assists last season for Eupen who are one of the smaller teams in the league. He has played on the wing and upfront and is said to have traits that are similar to his namesake Thierry Henry. This versatility is an attractive option for us. The only problem with this transfer is that he has only played one international game which means he could struggle for a work permit but his transfer fee, wages and performances last season may enable this to go through under the special talent rule. There is a release clause of £7m for this deal and he is said to have turned down Arsenal already. He had met with their officials but because they cannot promise him first team football he has turned them down which shows a good attitude in my opinion. He has interest from other clubs and is expected to choose us over them when he flies into the training ground on Tuesday. "

If you want him to sign for us then don't take him to the training ground, for fucks sake!

Re: Henry Onyekuru?
I read an interview by him somewhere and he said i want to play football and that's key for me so if i move i have to play, i can earn big money later. Now how many players do you hear say that, very refreshing

Re: Henry Onyekuru?
This bloke has pace,no doubt, but can he bridge the gap between the Belgian League and the PL?
Martin Braithwaite has good qualities( energy, stays fit,can score goals and highly regarded at his club)and is reasonably cheap. He's another possibility.
Chris Wood can be an ideal replacement for sick note Carroll. The people that think he's shit know nothing about the game.

Most of the names mentioned on the rumoured in column on the transfer window thread will not come to us,simple as that.

Seems a little like Valencia at the moment, but hopefully at an age where he can be moulded and improved.

Young and exciting. Exactly the sort of transfer we should be doing.

Re: Henry Onyekuru?
Judging by that video (I know!) this kid has pace to burn and looks great with the ball at his feet.

Yes it's a poorer standard of league and he does look somewhat lightweight - but at £7million this is precisely the sort of deal we should be doing and has Tony Henry written all over it and for that reason I'm pretty excited by this kind of deal.

Clearly this lad isn't the answer to all our striking issues but should be a good addition with the potential to be a great one, the boy can clearly finish!

Talk to us. Then sign for Arsenal. Got all the hallmarks of a Wenger signing. And the SPIVY CUNTS negotiations.

Re: Henry Onyekuru?
I guess we can forget Iheanacho then. This bloke is much cheaper.

Sven Roeder 6:09 Sun Jun 11
Re: Henry Onyekuru?
He is a left sided forward not a centre forward
Ideally you'd get both and bin Snodgrass and the 'strikers' of last season but the Iaenacho situation appears to have dragged on beyond the window we had.

Re: Henry Onyekuru?
Sounds interesting but you can guarantee as soon as he meets Sullivan there will be no deal.

Re: Henry Onyekuru?
Hoping if we do get him, he will encourage his countryman to join for some mad london bants.

Sven

The player himself reckons his best position is centre forward.

Having said this, having him on the left, Antonio on the right feeding Batshuyi/Iheanacho would be amazing.

Would also be the most difficult to spell forward line we've ever had.

Yep. "The selling club were looking for an inflated fee", "the lad was not realistic with his demands", "the deal was too complicated to get over the line", "FFP constrains us to make these kind of deals".

Followed by:
"Shane Long wanted to play for West Ham and is just the kind of player we need"
"Crouch has the experience and know how we need"
"Rooney is the World Class player we now have at West Ham".

Sullivan and Gold are taking the piss lads. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it.

Sir Alf
You're wrong. He'll sign and turn out to be shit...

Re: Henry Onyekuru?
Not really a gamble at that price. Could turn out to be brilliant. If not some sell on value based on his age means it's not a train smash.

Hope we get him.

Then onto the next one

Re: Henry Onyekuru?
Just very pleased that the club seems to be looking at young, pacey players. Now we just have to hope the scours and coaches get it right.
